- Where to begin...well first and foremost, I am lucky enough to be the mother of the greatest kid to ever grace the planet... aka Jace :)When I'm not doing the mom thing I can usually be found behind the pharmacy counter at Harmons. I have worked for Harmons as a pharmacist for going on 7 years now and I have loved every minute of it! I really enjoy my work and the people I work with. I love pharmacy and couldn't be more fulfilled in my career choice. Being a pharmacist has allowed me to pursue my personal career goals and be a mostly stay at home mom, which is my first priority in life. Jace is my best bud, my reason for being. Without him I would be a complete and total mess!! He keeps me smiling,hoping and surviving this crazy life I'm living as a single mom. It's rough at times but more than worth it! When I'm not being a mom or a pharmacist, I enjoy hanging out with my family and close friends, running, listening to music (almost always country) scary movies and being outside whenever possible...how's that for me in a nutshell??
Tracy Aviary
Jace and I got to hang out with Jill, Payton and Kaitlyn today at Tracy Aviary. I wish I could say that the boys had so much fun and that Jill and I got to catch up on our gossip....but the truth of the matter is that the boys were terrible and Jill and I barely had a chance to chat between chasing after or disciplining the boys. Ahhh... such is motherhood! Anyway, we made it through the aviary mostly unharmed and ended the afternoon waiting several hours (ok I'm exagerating, but it was a long day!) at Wendy's for our food and eventually finished lunch and called it a day! Better luck next time I guess, you never know with a 2 1/2 year old and a 3 year old, exactly what to expect. We'll hope for better behaved kids on the next outing!

Puppy Pond :)
Ok, so there are few things in life that Jace loves more than dogs and swimming, so when you combine the two, it's a match made in heaven for my little boy. Jace couldn't wait to hang out with Brian's pups, Hank, Hannah, and "Nemmo" all of which are adored by Jace, but if you ask him who his favorite is he'll always say Hank. However, if you've ever seen him play with these playful pups it's very clear that Jace and "Nemmo" are best buddies. Jace had a great time and quickly went from fully clothed to nothing but Huggies in about 2.2 seconds....it might have been less than that :) All in all, really good, muddy, slobbery times!
Checking in on 2008....
Most of you who know me well know the absolute HELL that I went through last year. When 2008 hit the scene, I made a decision to make some serious changes in my life and start living again even if it killed me! Well in the beginning 2008 was everything I could have hoped for. My divorce was final on December 31st 2007 so I certainly started out the new year as a changed woman :) I set goals for myself and decided to learn everything life had been trying to teach me now that I wasn't living in constant pain from the events of the past year. I made a list, as crazy as it sounds, and I was determined to complete certain things before 2008 slipped away. Normally I'm not much for New Year's Resolutions, but understand I was in a position of having to figure out who I wanted to be now that the person that I was no longer existed.
First and foremost, I knew I wanted to be the very best mom that I could be for Jace. Being super mom has always been on my list of things to do, but it certainly takes a more prominent role when you are the only parent in your child's life. I want, more than anything in the world for Jace to know how much I love and adore him. I hope that he will always know that the choices I have made were done with his best interest at heart. I will always support him and take care of him the best I can. Even though being a single mom is a challenge, I want to be a good mom and a good example and will do everything in my power to be that person for Jace.
As if being mom of the year wasn't enough :) I also decided to take on some personal goals that have been on the back burner for far to long now.... I have taken up running and completed a coulple of races this year, I have been learning to play the guitar thanks to Brian:), I have been singing in public a little bit, I have traveled solo and with Jace this year and thanks to all the love and support I have recieved from my friends and family, I am feeling more and more like myself!
I hope all of you who read this, know how grateful I am to have you in my life. I can't begin to express my gratitude for all the phone calls, letters/cards, girls nights and shoulders to cry on. Without all of you, I'm certain I wouldn't have survived to this point! I know I'm a wreck alot of the time still, but thank you for being patient with me and letting me put the pieces back together in my own way and in my own time.
The most valuable lesson I've learned this year is to be grateful for what I do have right NOW and try my best to not get consumed with what's coming next, or what's happened in the past. I'm still learning, but getting stronger and smarter....I think :)
I still have a long way to go this year, I haven't completed my list.....yet, but I'm making it through what life is throwing at me one day at a time (the only way I know how right now). However, I'm open to any and all advice at this point....please tell me what I'm doing wrong/right/crazy etc. Someone's got to keep me on the straight and narrow....might as well be you! :)---Luv you all!!

Bear Lake
This past weekend Jace and I took a trip to Bear Lake to spend some time with friends. Gerrit, Ali, Damon, Brinley, Donny, Kyson and Shawn all made the long trip to spend time with us in the Tuft's time share in Bear Lake. I haven't been to Bear Lake since who knows when...probably 7-8 years ago and I was looking forward to a little weekend getaway! We arrived on Friday afternoon and spent the majority of the day at the beach letting the kids run wild! Jace has never been to a "beach" and was facinated with the waves and the sand. Saturday was more of the same...we headed for the lake about 9 am and started getting things settled when out of no where we heard a plane flying overhead noticeably low and fast. Not long after we caught sight of the plane, it crashed into the beach not too far from where were! Ali, Donny and I immediately headed for the plane and after I got a few yards away I decided someone needed to stay with the kids so I ran back yelling to Shawn to call 911! He was one step ahead of me and was already on the phone. After what seemed like a very long time, help arrived, but it was to no avail. The couple inside the small aircraft were both killed on impact. The whole thing was very surreal and scary to witness. It was an emotional day to say the least. I think that we were all reminded how fragile and uncertain our lives are and we were grateful to be together at that time. Despite the early morning disaster....we managed to be in good spirits and enjoyed the rest of the day at the lake with the wave runners and jet skis. The kids were exhausted and completely covered in sand by the time we got back to the condo that night. Jace and I had alot of fun and were grateful to spend time with some of our best friends... thanks for all the good times guys...hope this becomes an annual event!!

On July 25th Jace and I met the Tufts at Franklin Covey Field for an action packed Bees game and fireworks show. It was fun hanging out at the ball park and letting the kids play and run wild. The fireworks after the game were awesome and put Jace in a trance....he couldn't keep his eyes off the sky....or his mouth closed, it was adorable. Check out the pics that documented some of the good times!

Las Vegas Convention 2008
In July I had to go to Las Vegas for some Diabetes Education Training. We left on Monday afternoon and came home on Thursday evening, but it was mostly work and no play for me. I unfortunately found myself in class from 7am to 6pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, but did manage to squeeze in some good dinners (thank you drug reps!) and a couple of nights at the piano bar at the Paris Hotel where we were staying. The piano bar was a blast....those guys are crazy talented it was alot of fun to watch. The dinners were second to none...the food was outstanding! Oh and the best part is that the Director of Pharmacy managed to get pretty tipsy both nights, which makes for excellent black-mail material for me!!! :)

Summer 2008
It's no secret that I absolutely worship the sun....so even if Jace was opposed, we would still spend a decent amount of time at or in the pool :) Luckily Jace has developed a love for the pool that rivals mine at this point....so we're all good! We have really enjoyed swimming this summer, Jace has been so excited to go to the pool on my days off and I share his enthusiasm. We usually make it to the pool at least once a week and it has been soooo great to do something that makes us both so happy (swimming and playing for Jace, soaking up the rays for me). Just down the street from our house is what Jace refers to as "HIS school" aka East Sandy elementary. When it's not to hot Jace and I will usually make a pit stop on our walk to the park behind the school. He just decided this summer that slides are do-able, but his favorite thing is swinging and it's always more fun when we get to do it together....makes for a cute pic anyway :)

Okay so anybody that knows me well, knows that my favorite restaurant on earth is a little mexican place in Park City called Baja Cantina. This restaurant serves mine and Ali's birthday dinner each year and also provides us with photographic evidence that we are getting to old for the sombreros they make you wear in your birthday pictures!! I think Ali has all those pics....she's probably keeping them as leverage for some future event...seeing as how I can recall a specific year when I was very pregnant and they caught part of my bare belly in the pic....HIDEOUS!!! Anyhoo.....not really the point of this post, but a nice little tangent none the less! Point being, whenever I get the hankering for some really good mexican, I beg people to make the journey to Park City with me. Brian Jace and I were joined by Brian's brother Mark, his wife Sarah, and their kids Riley, Cam and Coop for dinner and a trip on the Alpine Slide. Dinner was stellar and the slide was way more fun than I ever remember....probably because I had a beaming 2 year old on my lap :)
